Blog Explosion!

Blog explosion. That would be mine. Someday. Perhaps soon after I buy and study Kristen Lamb’s book: Rise of the Machines: Human Authors in a Digital World.
As a pre-published author, building a platform is more difficult. I don’t have a book you can buy or I can sell, so how can I be interesting and valuable as a blogger? (I don’t mean to you, Mom….)
Today, another writer recommended a blog to follow: http://warriorwriters.wordpress.com. Just the title makes me smile. The content is succinct but humorous—my favorite combination—and includes examples of what she is discussing. Kristen gives book recommendations related to the topic of her blog. She also teaches classes for writers.
Kristen’s blog has over 35,000 followers. Mine hasn’t broken 100 yet. It’s pretty clear I need to spend more time and effort on my platform! I attract most new followers when I’m blogging on Cape Cod—my dream place and the location for my novels. Now the challenge is to gain some followers blogging on writing and reading.
Thanks to all my current followers! Now watch my numbers grow! Be a part of the explosion! Click that FOLLOW button!

About Gerri

I'm in my second career. Besides raising my beautiful family, worked as RN. Now I'm a novelist. Have completed five novels and working on my sixth. Way more fun than nursing! Happy hubby and neurotic cat hang out with me.

  1. I am still out here…I read and enjoy every one, but only comment on subjects I have personal experience. BB

  2. Gerri, from a very personal perspective, I would FOLLOW you anywhere! You introduce me to new information, ideas and adventures in your blog. I am the richer for it. You also make me want to return to the Cape. I can’t wait for that first novel to be in print. Soon! I will be the first one in line. Meanwhile, Blog on!!!!

  3. Warrior writer, I love it! Keep at it, girl! (and you know, numbers aren’t everything: does anyone really have those thousands of “friends” from Facebook? Would they be there for you in a pinch?)

    • You are right! It’s all about quality and I sure have that in the folks who follow me. I know you would be there! And me for you! See you soon. G

  4. Gerri, I love your blogs. You write about such interesting topics. I look forward to them.
